Ahead of the evening commute, traffic was backed up for some motorists as of 3:35 p.m. on July 9, while police and crews worked to clear the area.

According to the Virginia DOT, traffic was backed up because of a disabled vehicle, which left the left and left center lane closed amid the investigation.

It is unclear what caused the vehicle to become disabled.
